MIT Partnership for a Systems Approach to Safety Announces STAMP Conference

Leveson’s book, published in January 2012 by MIT Press, introduced the STAMP model (Credits: MIT Press).

Massachussetts Institue of Technology (MIT)  professor and International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) Fellow Nancy Leveson proposed a new systems thinking approach to safety engineering in her 2012 book Engineering a Safer World. Now, the second conference inspired by her approach has been scheduled for March 26-29, 2013 at MIT in Cambridge, Massachussetts. The STAMP Conference is named after the accident causality model Leveson introduced.

A detailed program for the free event will be available mid-January. In the meantime, those interested in attending or presenting are requested to complete a brief survey. For more information about the STAMP model, take a look at Leveson’s introduction to the approach in Space Safety Magazine Issue 3.
