The south of France was hit Wednesday 17 February by a meteor shower. It was seen by hundreds of people. Three impacts were counted on the Isère department: one in Vercors Autrans, another in Grésivaudan in the area of Saint-Vincent-de-Mercuze, and the third on Gières. The specific impact locations have not been yet localized but no casualties or damage have been reported so far. The news first given by the Isère prefecture is confirmed by the operational center of the Isere Gendarmerie. There were several worried or amazed calls to fire brigade and the police.

Witnesses say that they saw “like a green ball with a long trail of fire. Then the ball turned white and exploded”. The trail crossed the sky in the north-south direction.
