Close-up of X-Class Solar Flare

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured this close-up look of the July 7 X-Class Solar Flare that temporarily disrupted radio communications in Europe. The flare erupted from the massive active region AR1515, the source of numerous recent coronal mass ejections.
