On November 3, SpaceX founder Elon Musk shared this video of the company’s Grasshopper rocket on its first flight using closed loop thrust vector and throttle control. The Grasshopper is a prototype of a reusable rocket that stands 10 stories tall and takes off and lands vertically. It took its first hop on September 21, when it lifted 1.8 meters off the ground before landing on its four feet. The Grasshopper is a step towards Musk’s vision of a completely reusable spaceflight system.
