On February 13 U.S. President Obama released his 2013 budget proposal. The proposal confirmed the space world’s fears, including a 20% cut to planetary sciences that will require the cancellation of  NASA’s collaboration in ESA’s ExoMars robotic exploration as well as flagship missions to Mars and Europa. Funds are being rerouted to support commercial crew capabilities amidst concerns regarding the continuity of Russia’s transport abilities. The infographic below explains the new budget proposal.
