While NASA Cuts Back on Outreach, Crowdfunded Movie Picks Up the Challenge

While NASA is currently cutting back on outreach and public appearances of all varieties under the barrage of sequestration budget cuts, one group of space enthusiasts is wrapping up an Indiegogo campaign designed to convince Americans just how awesome their space agency is. “We Are the Explorers” is a NASA short that organizers Aerospace Industries Association and Challenger Center for Space Science Education plan to edit for display across the US. Having surpassed their initial goal of raising $33,000, the group is now aiming for $94,000 – enough to play the short before the upcoming Star Trek: Out of Darkness film in theaters in every state across the US.
